Yan earned a B.S. in Biology from Beijing Normal University. She has been studying the expression and function of the GLABRA2 gene in root development.

John Schiefelbein schiefel@umich.edu
John received a B.S. in Biochemistry from Iowa State University and a Ph.D in Genetics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He began his appointment at the University of Michigan in 1989. He is a faculty member in the Department of Biology, and a member of the Genetics, CMB, and Biotechnology Ph.D. Training Programs.

Christine joined the lab in 1999, after earning a B.S. in Biology from Technical University of Darmstadt, and a Ph.D in Plant Pathology from University of Gottingen, Germany. Christine's research is focused on the basic helix-loop-helix proteins that participate in root epidermis development.
